Building team off to Honduras for 2010 spring break project

By the time most people are reading this, another Worldwide Crusades building team will be on their way to Macuelizo, Santa Barbara, Honduras. The team of seven men and two women and a teen girl will spend spring break building a church facility, holding daily children’s evangelistic outreaches and nightly preaching session.
“We looked at this site a year ago, and it seems like it has a lot of potential,” said WWC president Bill Smith, who will be leading the team. “The pastor seems to have a lot of respect from the people in the area, and there are many children there. I think this will be a very youth oriented church for a while.”
Without a church facility in Macuelizo, the pastor has been loading up as many young adults and children as he can each week and transporting them to a church in a nearby town where he also pastors. The city fathers of Macuelizo offered him a lot in the town if he would build a church. When the church is done, he plans to find another pastor for the church in the other town.
Macuelizo is a town of about 1,500 people, and Smith thinks the church and pastor will be a great fit for the town.
“It’s a really friendly area like a little country town: a lot of cattle, friendly people, nice people,” Smith explained.
